Osprey Road | North London | Cardo

Works at Osprey Close have transformed a shared garden that residents had been unable to use, particularly those with reduced mobility who relied on the communal steps.
Following an engineering assessment, the existing timber retaining structure was found to have deteriorated, with sections collapsing and the steps becoming increasingly unstable. The works included replacing the failed structure with a new, durable brick retaining wall, improving the steps and gradient, and installing handrails to provide safer and more accessible access.
Working closely with Cardo, the works were completed in just over two weeks, from referral at the end of February 2026 to completion on 16 March 2026.
Residents also told us about other improvements that would make the space more useful and enjoyable. As part of the social value offer, new washing lines were installed, the damaged shed was replaced and solar lighting added to improve the garden’s usability and security.
The renewed garden is now a safer, more welcoming space for residents to use and enjoy. A follow-up resident involvement day with Cardo and Clarion brought residents together to celebrate the improvements, with light gardening and seed-planting activities helping to give the shared space a new lease of life.
