Shard End, Birmingham

The Shard End project includes improvement works to three neighbouring but distinctly different residential blocks: Cheshire Court, 4-26 Cat Lane, and 1-41 Ravenall Close. While the scope of work varies across each block, all improvements will be carried out simultaneously to maximise efficiency and deliver the best value for money through our supply chain partners.

Cheshire Court

At Cheshire Court, we are proposing to replace all existing timber windows with new energy-efficient uPVC windows, subject to planning approval. A final decision is currently awaited from Birmingham City Council's Planning Department. We will also be redecorating all internal communal areas and, where appropriate, incorporating Clarion's LiveSmart branding and colour scheme.

4-26 Cat Lane

At 4-26 Cat Lane, works will include the renewal of the existing flat roof, with insulation upgraded to meet current building regulations. All windows and external doors will be replaced, along with the main block entrance doors and an upgrade to the existing entry phone system. External surfaces will be thoroughly cleaned, and the communal areas will benefit from redecoration and replacement floor coverings.

1-41 Ravenall Close

At 1-41 Ravenall Close, residents will see improvements including external cleaning and decoration, redecoration of internal communal areas, replacement communal flooring, and new block entrance doors. We will also replace any flat entrance doors that have not already been upgraded.

These improvements are designed to enhance the appearance, security, energy efficiency, and overall quality of the homes and communal areas across all three blocks.

We’ve also identified a number of kitchens and bathrooms across all three blocks that require replacement due to their age and condition. These refurbishments will be delivered as part of the wider Shard End project, allowing the works to be carried out alongside the planned external and communal area improvements.
